About This Project

Dario Neira

(1963, Turin, where he lives and works)

Through photography, video and installation, Dario Neira’s works are often articulated around the use of language, the development of words and phrases that investigate the human being and his moods in a sort of textual celebration in which art, science and the sacred converge. The use of biotechnology is for Neira a functional means of expressing ideas, since only in part in his works does the medium coincide with the subject of the investigation.
The artist draws on his transversal biomedical and psychoanalytic training to formulate utterances; words that, in English, form short statements, declarations intended as a response to a communicative urgency to everything that suffocates unexpressed in the human body.Recovering the feeling, often hidden and not revealed, in human nature, Neira recreates suggestions, narratives and situations of everyday life that are at the same time extraordinary.
